Q6. How do I receive a fax with HylaFAX 4.2.0 RC2 ?

Hylafax loads when the system is booted, so a fax can be received any time once installed and configured.

It's important that a faxgetty process is running on the port to receive (see installation below) as this process is able to determine that a call is incoming and begin a fax receive.

When a fax is received a notification is generally made via email to the fax admin account.

The actual received fax image is stored as a .TIFF file in the Hylafax spool area, which by default is "/var/spool/hylafax/spool/recvq".

There is no GUI front end to Hylafax (unless a Windows client is used), so viewing the received files is usually a case of using a .TIFF viewer to manually open the file.  If Samba is being run to make the Linux file system accessible across the network, then Windows Imaging can be used.
