Q9. How do I reset the fax inbox/outbox and logging with VentaFax 8-Line Business version 5.5 ?

General Logs

There is no one-click reset option.  The quickest way to reset the log files is to:

1.  Open up the Log Book, making sure the General log tab is selected (not a Predefined Report) so that all entries are shown.

2.  Select All of the entries by pressing [Ctrl-A].

3.  Press the [Delete] key.

4.  Click Yes to confirm.

5.  Click Yes again only if you want to delete the actual .TIFF image files associated with the logs you have just deleted.

The Message Manager won’t let you select more than one file at a time for deletion.  So if there are a number of message files in the in/out boxes that you wish to delete, the easiest way is to:

1.  Make sure the Message Manager is not open.

2.  Open up MS Windows Explorer.

3.  Browse to the actual In and Out folders, located at

  • In: “C:\Program Files\Venta\VentaFax & Voice 5\In”, and
  • Out: “C:\Program Files\Venta\VentaFax & Voice 5\Out”

4.  Delete the required files by selecting them (Select All by pressing [Ctrl-A]) and pressing [Delete].

Individual Modem Activity Logs

You can either delete or rename the ‘LOG_0#.TXT’ files stored in ‘C:\Program Files\Venta\VentaFax & Voice 5’, or you can:

1.  Click the Settings tab  (on the taskbar) from the main view, and go to Modem > Interacting with Modem > Modem Activity Logging.

2.  Select the line number you wish to reset logs for from the Line selector (bottom right).

3.  Click the Delete button.

4.   Click Yes at the ‘Are you sure’ prompt.
