Somerset, England January 3, 2006 -- Mainpine, a leading vendor of fax/data/voice interface products today announced compliance with EU directives on Restrictions of certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS) and the Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

As of January 2006, all new RockForce interface cards from Mainpine will comply with RoHS and WEEE directives. In accordance with RoHS, Mainpine has restricted the use of certain hazardous chemicals in the manufacture of new RockForce products. Beginning 1, July 2006, RoHS restricts the use of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium and both polybrominated biphenyl and polybrominated diphenyl ether flame retardants in electrical and electronic equipment.

“We have always taken a green approach when developing and manufacturing our RockForce line of products. Compliance to these important EU directives is another step in our ongoing efforts to provide our customers environmentally-friendly and high-quality communications products,” said Sharpe.

Mainpine announces dual V.90 modem at Comdex

Las Vegas, Nevada, 12th November 2001
Mainpine Limited has begun volume shipment of an affordably priced, dual port V.90 modem. The new RockForce+ is the latest in Mainpine's extensive line of multi-port V.90 and V.92/V.44 modems.

Features include dual on-board DSP's (Digital Signal Processor) for optimum performance, and compatibility with Microsoft Windows and Linux Multilink (ML-PPP) connectivity.

The RockForce+ provides connections for two POTS lines on a single 'short' PCI card, and conform to the ITU V.90 and K56flex standards. Support for a variety of operating systems is supplied, including Microsoft Windows 98/ME, Microsoft Windows 2000, and Linux. The cards can be used for data, fax, and voice applications, and are ideal for telecommuters and small to medium sized enterprises.

"Recent figures from Gartner suggest that dial-up modems will be around for a while. Data from the research firm indicates that 55 percent of all people getting online will be doing so through dial-up connections even by the year 2004," commented Tessa Skoczylas, Sales and Marketing Manager for Mainpine.

The RockForce+ is covered by a three year manufacturers warranty and a 30 day money back guarantee.

Mainpine ships RockForceDUO V.92 Modems

Wiltshire, England, 1st June 2001
The RockForceDUO has begun volume production. This product is intended to address the need for a low cost alternative to ADSL and cable modems using two analog phone lines. Offering connection rates similar to ISDN, but at half the line rental, the new product will be attractive in areas not served by high speed digital services. V.92 enhancements include improved data compression, lower connection times, increased upstream speed, and the ability to answer voice calls without having to disconnect from the internet.

Mainpine embraces latest V.92 Dial-up Modem Standard

Wiltshire, England, 10th August 2000
Mainpine Limited, innovative provider of multi-port modem solutions, today announced the addition of V.92 support to its RockForce Family of multi-port modems. The V.92 standard has been ratified by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), and provides increased upstream rates, reduced dial-up times, and call waiting/modem-on-hold capability.

The RockForce2000+, supporting the V.92 standard, delivers upstream data rates of 48Kbps, increased from the 33.6Kbps supported by V.90. E-mails with large attachments, Web site uploads, and low cost remote access dial-up, can now achieve significantly greater speeds, significantly reducing overall operating costs. Furthermore, dial-up times are significantly reduced, from 20 - 30 seconds with V.90, to just 10 seconds.

V.92 is the first standard to offer call waiting/modem-on-hold capability, which increases the efficiency of each phone line. Users are informed of incoming voice calls whilst using Fax or Internet applications and benefit from the shared-line capability. The user experiences no connection loss while initiating or receiving voice calls and is able to resume surfing afterwards.

"Mainpine's rapid response to the ratification of this standard, ensures that the RockForce solution continues to provide enhanced features to the IT user," commented Tessa Skoczylas, Sales and Marketing Manager for Mainpine, "Whilst the introduction of V.92 will maintain the market lead held by the analog modem."

The RockForce2000 two port provides connections for up to two POTS lines on a single 'short' PCI card. Both cards support V.90 and K56flex standards and run on a variety of operating systems, including Microsoft Windows NT, Microsoft Windows 2000, and Linux. The cards can be used for data, fax, and voice applications, and are ideal for small and medium sized enterprises.

RockForce2000 readily meets the demands of the fast growing remote access market, with both FCC and CTR21 Pan-European approvals. Unlike many black-box technologies, the RockForce2000 is seen by the system as a series of standard COM ports, which ensures compatibility with the widest range of third party software. "This is a 'plug and play' product, with no configuration hassles or cabling nightmare," said Tessa Skoczylas, Sales and Marketing Manager for Mainpine Limited, "Using the latest advances in modem and PCI BUS technology the RockForce2000 products effectively off-load the host processor workload to maximise the server's performance."

Mainpine enhances Multi-port Modem Family

Surrey, England, 13th August 1999
Mainpine Limited, the leader in multi-port modem solutions, today announced the availability of two enhanced multi-port modems that provide 56Kbps remote access per port. The RockForce 4 (UK list £695) and the RockForce 2 (UK list £395) are immediately available for worldwide shipment. The RockForce 4 provides connections for up to four POTS lines on a single 'short' PCI card. The RockForce 2 provides connections for up to two POTS lines on a single 'short' PCI card. Both products support V.90 and K56flex standards and run on a variety of operating systems, including Microsoft Windows NT, and Microsoft Windows2000. The cards can be used for data and fax applications and are ideal for small to medium sized business applications.

"System integrators, resellers, and network managers are moving to open systems, for remote access, and fax applications," said Kevin Conway, director of sales and marketing for Mainpine Limited. "These customers are moving their fax and data applications onto the server and Mainpine's RockForce 4 and RockForce 2 cards provide them the flexibility required in these environments. Mainpine's commitment to open systems removes the restrictions found in proprietary systems."

Bluecoast Limited, Surrey, England, is a provider of Microsoft based network solutions who has chosen to implement a RAS server with Mainpine's RockForce 4 for remote access.

"We implement Microsoft Windows NT applications for our small business server clients many of whom wish to merge their fax and remote access," said Lawrence Waters, Director of Bluecoast Limited. "The RockForce 4 works extremely well within the Windows NT environment for POTS connections. Using Windows NT MLPPP our customers can aggregate two or more RockForce POTS lines to form a high throughput connection similar to ISDN but with a significant cost saving. The product has been very simple to install and use, which makes it very attractive to our customers."

The RockForce family provides high-density modem connections via POTS lines. Using the latest advances in modem and PCI BUS technology the RockForce products effectively offload the host processor workload to maximize the server's performance.

An International Data Corporation (IDC) study forecasts the overall open systems server based remote access market will grow to almost 5.4 million ports by the millennium. This fast growing market leverages on the access technology provided by multi-port modem products such as the RockForce 2 and RockForce 4.
